Linking Schools Project 2023/2024
At Ribblesdale Nursery School we take part in the 'All together Now' Linking Schools project led by Lancashire County Council. This supports our children to become more aware of life in modern Britain, creating a year-long curriculum-rich link between our Nursery School and another Nursery School in the County.
We share stories, letters, pictures, meet via online platforms, learn about each other and visit each others schools. In July 2024 we shared a celebration of our link with Fairfield Nursery School with a day out at Clitheroe Castle.
The project builds a sense of togetherness and confidence in contact with others, supporting children to explore identity, celebrate diversity, promote community, and champion equality.
From birth, children are fascinated by the world around them. Making sense of what they see, hear and experience is a vital part of their development. The knowledge they gain enables them to develop a sense of time and place, which helps them to understand how things happen and why things change. It can help them understand the influence humans have on the world and each other. This better enables children to form a connection between themselves, others and their environments. It also enables them to learn about their place in society and form a sense of belonging.[footnote 56] This learning gives children the foundational knowledge they will draw on in their further schooling. It helps them develop their understanding of the diverse world in which they live. Best Start in Life Part 3.
