Energy and commitment to sustainability
At Ribblesdale Nursery School we are committed to being as energy efficient as possible and reducing our carbon front print. Over the past 10 years we have worked hard to look at ways to be more sustainable and work with the local community to reduce our energy rating.
Over 5 years ago the building energy rating was very low and not efficient and we had a rating of G.
Since then we have worked with Lancashire County Council to insulate the roof space and install a new gas boiler to replace the existing oil fired boilers. We have also received a grant from Whalley Hydro to replace all the lights with energy efficient LED and received a grant from the DfE to replace old wooden doors.
As a team we recycle, turn off lights, use rain water and re use and re purpose paper, bottles etc.
These combine efforts mean we are now more energy efficient and now have a 'C' rating.
Since the 'C' rating Lancashire County Council have also installed a Heat Source pump which provides most of our heating and hopefully will have reduced our carbon foot print further.
